Cilla Black's wardrobe to be auctioned off next month

A DAZZLING collection of designer fashion is set to go under the hammer.

The late Cilla Black's wardrobe, featuring more than 260 lots including iconic stage outfits and rare couture, will be auctioned on November 28 from 1pm to 4pm via Nesbits Auctions Ltd.

The sale will raise money for Variety, the Children's Charity.

The collection spans the entertainer's career as a singer, presenter and style icon, offering fans the chance to own a piece of British showbiz history.

Robert Willis, Cilla Black's son, said: "The clothes and outfits presented in this collection represent a life well lived on the stage and in front of the TV cameras.

"It's fair to say that almost every item in this collection was either worn on stage or appeared on TV.

"My brothers and I felt that the right thing to do now, ten years after our mother's passing, was to donate the collection to Variety, the Children's Charity, a wonderful charity which does so many good works and one which our mother happily supported during her lifetime.

"We sincerely hope that making her collection available to the public will enable them to have something of Cilla's that played a role in her career and to ultimately benefit disabled and disadvantaged children."

The auction includes designs by Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Muir, Armani, ChloƩ, Loewe and Escada, alongside vintage Biba pieces and high-street treasures.

Footwear by Charles Jourdan, Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik also features in the sale.

Laurence Guinness, chief executive of Variety, said: "Right now, thousands of disabled and disadvantaged children are going without the basic equipment they need to live a full life.

"The glamour of the Cilla Black collection auction is matched by the life-transforming impact it will have.

"Each winning bid could provide a child with a vital wheelchair, a specialist bed, or the means to communicate, offering a vulnerable child a future filled with opportunity.

"Cilla was a great supporter of Variety, and this is a chance to continue her legacy of generosity at a time when it's needed more than ever."
