Markowski, a three-time All-Big Ten selection and three-time first-team preseason All-Big Ten selection, is certainly deserving.

The senior from Lincoln set a program record by notching her 41st career double-double in the season-opener on Monday and is coming off a season in which she averaging a team-best 15.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game to help the Huskers get to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after a run to the Big Ten Championship Game.

She's one of 11 Big Ten players on the preseason Wooden Award Watch List.

Markowski and the Huskers are back in action on Saturday at against Southeastern Louisiana. That game, which Markowski will enter just 33 rebounds shy of becoming only the sixth player in Nebraska history to achieve 1,000 career rebounds, is set to tip off at 1 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
