Big Bill made his first appearance in AEW in May 2022 as MJF's pick to face Wardlow. Big Bill impressed the right people in the match and got a big reaction from the crowd, leading to him signing with the promotion in August 2022.
Billed as W. Morrissey in TNA Wrestling and Big Cass in WWE, he was given the name Big Bill by Tony Khan.
"I remember Tony talking about you and he was like, 'I'm thinking about bringing him in and I want to call Big Bill. That's the name Big Bill.' Alright, Big Bill it is," Chris Jericho recalled on Talk Is Jericho.
Bill said, "My first week here, MJF told me, and a few people told me, 'What do you think of the name Big Bill?' At first I was like, 'I really don't like that.' They were like, 'It was Tony's idea and Tony loves it.' I said, 'It's fantastic.'"
Elsewhere during the interview, Big Bill credited Shannon Moore for helping him get through his alcohol recovery. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
Big Bill and Jericho were in action on AEW Dynamite, teaming with Bryan Keith against Mark Briscoe, Tomohiro Ishii, and Kyle O'Reilly in a Fight Without Honor.
