5 artists and organizations design holiday trees to spruce up Green Bay airport

ASHWAUBENON (WLUK) -- Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport is getting into the holiday spirit.

A ceremony was held Monday to light the five holiday trees on display in different parts of the airport. Each artificial evergreen was uniquely designed by a local artist or community organization.

Here's a list of the contributors and their tree's location:

All of the trees have a special theme. For example, the Salvation Army tree is filled with the red kettles and bells made famous by their annual Christmas campaign, as well as flags of the countries around the world where the Salvation Army does its work.

Beauchamp's tree is titled Delightful Dairyland Holiday: A Loving Tribute to Wisconsin's Dairy Heritage.

"It reminds, hopefully, all the travelers coming through the airport that you are in the Dairyland State and it's a great honor to our farmers that work hard all day, every day," she said.

Of the more than 100 ornaments on Beauchamp's tree, she hand-painted about 80 of them. These ornaments can be purchased, with proceeds going to the Brown County Animal Shelter.

The Mulva Cultural Center's tree features ornaments tied to their exhibit "Life in Space."

"It celebrates the art and science of exploration, which is a dazzling fusion of elegance and discovery. Its shimmering blue lights, you'll see once we turn it on, celestial hues and orbiting ornaments mirror the vast beauty of the cosmos and the courage of those who have journeyed beyond our planet," said Amy Stach, administrative manager of the Mulva Cultural Center.

This marks the third year of the holiday tree program at the Green Bay airport.
