MORENCI, Mich. - Nearly 15 years ago, the small town of Morenci was forever changed when three young boys went missing.
The search for them has never stopped.
Their father, John Skelton, is at the center of the investigation. He faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence.
Brandy Fenner, a friend of the family, says her feelings remain the same all these years later.
"You get that pit in your stomach that you had 15 years ago. We all want justice, and we all want answers. We deserve it."
The case still weighs heavily on the Morenci community.
Roger Brantley, a Morenci resident, explains that the case is still deeply hurtful.
"It makes me feel really hurt," Brantley said. "Hurt and upset, you know?"
A judge declared Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner dead in March, but many people are still left wondering what really happened to the boys.
Residents like Sheryl Kutzley are still deeply suspicious of the details surrounding the case
"The father said he did nothing," Kutzley said. "But then suddenly the kids were gone."
The boys were last seen with their father, John Skelton, over Thanksgiving.
This all happened during a divorce and custody fight with their mother, Tanya Zuvers.
John was supposed to return the boys on Black Friday, but when he did not and did not say where they were, Tanya called the police.
Little did she know, she would never see them again.
"Me as a person, I will never stop looking ever," Fenner said. "You drive down the road you are constantly looking. I searched seven days straight for these boys."
John Skelton was sentenced in 2010 to 10 to 15 years for unlawful imprisonment.
He could have been paroled in 2020, but was denied.
He was set to be released on November 29, but has now been hit with new charges.
"It's a very sad thing that's happened," Kutzley said. "I don't think this town will ever forget this. It will be in their history forever."
State police urge anyone with information about the case or the whereabouts of the boys to come forward and give them a call.
