The Vacaville Christian High School Cross Country teams dominated the races at Lagoon Valley Park on Wednesday to claim Sierra Delta League championships for both the girls and boys teams.
On top of being crowned champions, The Falcons' Elena Vizcay and Maverick Adam each received Varsity All-League MVP honors.
"I was really confident that the kids were going to seal it because they've gotten faster, more confident and have so much more depth than they did from SDL meet one," Vacaville Christian head coach Mia Douglas said.
The Vacaville Christian girls team took first place with a score of 17 points, beating out Golden Sierra, the only other team that placed by 27 points.
Vizcay led the way for the Falcons, speeding to a first-place finish of 20 minutes and 23.50 seconds. Following Vizcay was teammate Mia Farias who finished in second place with a time of 22:07.
"It's remarkable because for Elena's time and for her to be so ahead of the next runner, it's not even her personal best," Douglas said. "There's even so much more to her capabilities."
The next three finishes for the girls team were Layla Heard in fourth, Zaya Aldarondo in sixth and Caitlyn Ferreira in seventh.
"There's gonna be a legacy with these girls because a majority of them are freshmen," Douglas said. "It's going to be such a great next three years."
The Vacaville Christian boys team took first place with a score of 23 points, easily defeating Highlands (77) and Golden Sierra (84).
Maverick Adam wanted to make the most of his last race at Lagoon Valley and he did just that, posting a blistering time of 17:24 to win the boys race.
Apollo Adam joined his brother on the podium one minute later, finishing third with a time of 18:29.
"Those boys are inseparable," Douglas said. "You have no hints of sibling rivalry at all, they really push each other to be their very best."
Rounding out the Vacaville Christian boys' scores were Griffin McGrath in fifth, Elijah Bates in sixth and William Campbell in eighth.
"Typically, our strategy for the boys is to pack together for the first mile, attack the hills, and just stay confident of the kind of racers that they are," Douglas said.
With the regular season in the books, The Falcons will now look towards the postseason.
"We have our eyes on state on Nov. 30," Douglas said. "I think the girls and boys have a really good shot."
