The Eastern Athletic League, Butte View League and Northern Athletic League swim championships were held Thursday at Foothill High School.
In the boys EAL competition PV's Holden Campos won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute and 1.16 seconds and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:03.62.
PV's team of Campos, Grant Harrell, Zac Muff and Max Way won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:48.08. Chico's Devin Cheng won the 100-yard backstroke in 0:59.2.
In the girls EAL competition Chico's Marina Perry won the 100-yard freestyle in 0:55.95 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.83; Chico's Lila Hull won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.44; and Chico's Jane Hull won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:04.58 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:29.47.
Chico's team of Claire Kay, Perry, Lila Hull and Jane Hull won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:00.08. Chico's team of Cece Bourne, Anya Brown, Whitney Grade and Josie Murphy won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:53.45. Chico's team of Jane Hull, Lila Hull, Kay, and Perry won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:57.29.
In the girls BVL meet, Las Plumas' Jasmine Pierce won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:27.21; Durham's Parker Thomas won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:55.25 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:11.31; Durham's Alyssa Messina won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:06.34; and Paradise's Autumn Vogelbacher won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.59 and the 200-yard individual medley relay in 2:35.86.
Durham's team of Thomas, Sadie Sjolund, Messina and Sophia Owen won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:14.88. Durham's team of Owen, Kendall Schmid, Thomas and Messina won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:21.46.
In the boys BVL meet, Durham's Carter Schmid won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:24.26; Orland's Ryder Champagne-Meredyk won the 100-yard freestyle in 0:57.73; Gridley's Ryan Taranto won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:17.93; Durham's Cayden Swain won the 500-yard freestyle in 6:16.56; Willows' Bryson Throm won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.08; Paradise's Arc Rein Jr. won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:15.55; and Gridley's Billy Routon 100-yard butterfly in 0:58.4 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:08.41.
Gridley's team of Jace Lewellen, Jack Routon, Billy Routon and Taranto won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:01.63. Durham's team of Swain, Jack Drake, Richard Halvorson Jr. and Schmid won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:43.26. Durham's team of Swain, Halvorson Jr., Drake and Schmid won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:59.15.
Teams continue competition Oct. 30 at the Division I championships at Shasta College beginning at noon. The Masters competition will be held Nov. 2 at Shasta College beginning at 10 a.m.
Prep volleyball
Pleasant Valley 3, Chico 1: The Vikings secured the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Athletic League standings with a 25-22, 20-25, 25-15, 25-16 win on senior night at Varley Gym.
Reilly Gilliland led PV with 16 kills and Natalie Wulferdingen had 11 kills. Katelynn Enos led PV with five service aces, Kobi Sanchez and Wulferdingen had four aces each, Madison Millanes had three blocks, Sanchez had 16 digs, Wulferdingen and Kenzie Johnson had 14 digs each, and Ava Dunn had 44 assists.
Kayleigh's Solano led Chico with 12 kills and 14 digs, Mylee Finney led the Panthers with three aces and six blocks, and Corrina Stephens led the Panthers with 15 assists.
PV (23-15, 8-2 EAL) begins Northern Section Division II playoffs at 7 p.m. Tuesday at home against Foothill. The Vikings enter as the No. 2 seed and against the No. 3 seed Foothill. Chico (25-16, 4-6 EAL), which finished fourth in the EAL standings, faces the No. 1 seed Shasta at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 in Redding.
