Give your loved one a blue blue bluegrass Christmas.
The Cowichan Bluegrass Festival is having a special early bird sale on tickets from now until Jan. 31.
Cowichan Bluegrass Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary in June of 2026, and will be led by the politically-charged girl power super group Big Richard out of Colorado that serves up rollicking old-time and bluegrass with a heavy dose of political awareness.
The three day toe tapping festival will feature Grammy and Juno-winning talent from a wide spectrum including old-time, bluegrass, newgrass and folk.
The long list of talent includes Grammy and Emmy-winning cellist Joy Adams alongside accomplished band mates Bonnie Sims (mandolin), Eve Panning (fiddle), and Hazel Royer (bass, guitar). Other notable artists are the Blue Ridge Mountains with The Alum Ridge Boys and Ashlee, the Eli West Quartet with an all-star lineup including three-time Grammy nominee Matt Flinner, The Unfaithful Servants with Juno-winning folk icon Shari Ulrich, Canada's internationally touring folkgrass heroes Showman and Coole, The Barrel Boys based out of Toronto, and emerging Edmonton old-time duo The Western Thistles, with more acts to be announced in the future.
In keeping up with fine past tradition there will be the festival's signature Saturday night square dance under the stars led by B.C.'s old-time band The Black Rabbit Rounders.
