Quesnel Kangaroos, Rodeo Club show importance of community collaboration

Two Quesnel organizations have come together to help grow local events and the community.

The Quesnel Rodeo Club (QRC) recently completed another performance of the Quesnel Rodeo, an event that was a great success.

But what helped grow the event? A partnership between the QRC and the Quesnel Kangaroos hockey club, which brought the barn dance to the indoor arena at Alex Fraser Park back in July.

On Thursday, Sept. 11, Kangaroos' Alessio Tomassetti and Darby Madill received a cheque from QRC president Ray Jasper as part of the final tallies from the dance.

"This is what a great partnership looks like," said a Quesnel Kangaroos social media post. "Working together as a team to bring the community together!!"

At the cheque presentation, Tomassetti thanked the QRC for creating the partnership and stated that the funds would be a great help to the club.

On October 18, the Kangaroos will dedicate their game to the QRC. More details of everything that will be involved will become available closer to game day.

The two organizations signed a three-year partnership last spring.
