MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - Millersville got off to a hot and shot 61% in the first quarter to build a double-digit lead on its way to a 76-38 PSAC crossover victory over the Pitt-Johnstown women's basketball team Saturday afternoon.
Chestnut Ridge graduate Belle Bosch scored a game-high 18 points and pulled down five rebounds for the Mountain Cats, now 1-9 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Pitt-Johnstown also got six points and three rebounds from Liv West and five points from Sophia Ott.
Millersville hit 11 of its 18 first-quarter shots to open up a 28-5 advantage.
Bryn Zentner's bucket early in the second quarter pushed it out to 32-5. Pitt-Johnstown, which shot 60% in the quarter, answered with a 12-4 run over the next four minutes, capped by five straight points from Bosch and a layup from West, to cut it to 36-17. However, Kali March knocked down a 3-pointer, then scored in the paint with under a minute left to help the Marauders outscored the Mountain Cats 9-2 down the stretch to make it 45-19 at the break.
Millersville was able to maintain at least a 25-point lead throughout the second half.
The Marauders improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC behind Zentner's 14 points and Kelly Cleaver's 11 points and game-high nine rebounds.
Pitt-Johnstown goes to Colgate for an exhibition game Saturday, then returns home to host a PSAC crossover doubleheader with the men's team against West Chester Dec. 17 inside the Sports Center.
