The 80th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl will match two teams who have never faced each other, and one that has never played in the nation's sixth-oldest bowl game.
It will be 14th-ranked Ole Miss (9-3) vs. Duke (9-3) on Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m. (ESPN) at EverBank Stadium. Duke is the last remaining member of the original ACC that had never played in the Gator Bowl and the Rebels last played in the game on Jan. 1, 1991, a 35-3 loss to Michigan.
The two teams have never played.
Gator Bowl ticket prices on Stub Hub range from $177-$282 for club seats, $47-$119 for the lower bowl and $47-$61 for end zone seats.
Gator Bowl officials will not open the upper bowl unless ticket demand increases. Both teams must fulfill a 3,000-ticket guarantee.
Tickets can also be purchased through taxslayergatorbowl.com or through the school's respective ticket offices.
The Rebels led the SEC in passing offense (343.6 yards per game) and were second in total offense. While senior quarterback Jaxson Dart may opt out to get ready for the NFL draft, backup Austin Simmons showed his chops by leading a TD drive against Georgia when Dart was hurt.
But Ole Miss also has one of the SEC's top defenses, ranking fourth in the league and 18th in the nation in total defense
Duke has relied on a strong defense to post its third eight-win season or better in a row under first-year coach Manny Diaz. The Blue Devils won their first five games, weather the mid-season when they lost three of four, then closed with victories over N.C. State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Duke led the ACC in pass defense, was fourth in total defense and third in scoring defense.
Duke last played in a Florida bowl game in 1995, when it lost to Wisconsin 34-20 in the Hall of Fame Bowl in Tampa.
