Hudson Catholic tops Patrick School - National for coach's first win - Boys basketball

Senior Elijah Williams scored a career-high 23 points as Hudson Catholic defeated Patrick School - National, 54-49, in Jersey City.

Noreaga James, a junior, added a career-high 22 points for Hudson Catholic (1-0), which overcame an early 14-8 first quarter deficit.

The victory gave Hudson Catholic head coach Kavon Stewart, his first career win.

Stewart, a Hudson Catholic alum, who led the Hawks to two Hudson County championships before playing at Robert Morris, was hired as the coach of his high school alma mater after stints as an assistant at Paterson Eastside and Morristown-Beard.
