Tens of thousands of people gathered in Blackpool tonight for the annual Illuminations switch-on event.
Around 24,000 free tickets were given out by ballot, with a few limited to locals for the iconic northern tradition.
Described as the "most important night" in Blackpool, visitors were treated to performances by X Factor stars Olly Murs and Louisa Johnson as well as rock band Toploader and a host of local talent.
A live feed from inside the arena was shown on a big screen on the promenade near Central Pier, allowing those who missed out on tickets to soak up the atmosphere.
This year, Olly Murs had the honour of switching on the lights which will be on display until January 2026.
