An attempted traffic stop in College Place turned into a pursuit and ended with the recovery of a stolen car and the confiscation of gun components and illegal drugs on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
According to a College Place Police Department news release, officers attempted to pull over a vehicle about 9 p.m. that did not have a visible registration. The driver of the vehicle fled and eventually stopping in a neighborhood and then fleeing on foot. Officers searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
Officers, however, obtained a warrant for the vehicle, according to the release. Though the vehicle had not yet been reported stolen, officers were able to confirm that it was taken without permission from the owner.
Police also recovered what they believe to be narcotics, a loaded magazine and additional firearm components.
Officers were able to identify a suspect, who has a prior felony conviction and an active warrant.
