People with an Apple or Windows device have been urged to do one thing by the Government to protect them - and their money.
The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is an organisation of the UK Government that provides advice and support for the public and private sector against computer security threats.
In a social media post, the officials urge people to download an anti-virus product "designed to detect and remove viruses and other kinds of malicious software from your computer or laptop."
Malicious software - commonly known as malware - is code designed to damage your computers, laptops, or the data stored on them.
By downloading software designed to remove these treats, you could save your personal details being stolen - and your bank being drained.
The experts explain that "antivirus software is often included for free within the operating systems that run Windows and Apple computers. If you make sure that this built-in antivirus is switched on, you'll instantly be safer."
Urging people to do one thing - and turn on this feature as soon as they switch on their device - they also advise people on what antivirus product to use.
They suggest: "New computers often come with a trial version of a separate antivirus product installed (such as McAfee, Norton and Avast)."
You should know that:
Antivirus software protects your device by identifying, isolating, and/or removing harmful code to stop malware from causing damage.
Most modern antivirus programs update automatically to stay effective against the latest viruses and other malware threats.
The organisation notes you don't need to do this so long as you only download apps and software from official sources like the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
It's also crucial you enable automatic updates for your apps and device.
