Eli Roth's 'Ice Cream Man' Scooped Up by More Global Buyers After Cannes Market Debut (EXCLUSIVE) 6 days ago
French animation giant Dandelooo Cinéma has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the 2D animated feature "My Life in Versailles - The Movie," excluding France, Italy, Germany and the U.K. The deal was struck with French production company Films Grand Huit and Academy Award-nominated studio Xilam Animation.
Aimed at children aged 6 to 10, the feature is currently in production and scheduled for theatrical release in France in October 2025 by distributor Jour 2 Fête. It is directed by Clémence Madeleine-Perdrillat and Nathaniel H'limi and produced by the powerhouse combination of Films Grand Huit and Mélusine Productions, with co-production support from Xilam Animation and Miyu Productions.
The story centers on eight-year-old Violet, who, after the loss of her parents, moves in with her gruff uncle Regis, a maintenance worker at the Palace of Versailles. Together, they navigate life, forming a bond amid the historic backdrop of Versailles. The film combines humor, tenderness and historical charm to appeal to both children and families.
Lionel Massol, producer at Films Grand Huit, said of the acquisition, "For many months now, Clémence, Nathaniel and I have been working on this feature-length adaptation of 'La Vie de Château' surrounded by shared emotions - just like those of a theatre audience. We want the adventures of Violette and Régis to be experienced to the fullest - as a family, on the big screen. I am absolutely thrilled that Dandelooo, with its high-quality and carefully curated line-up, has joined us in this great and beautiful adventure! They will be the perfect ambassadors for our story!"
Luna Sirvin, international sales and acquisitions manager at Dandelooo Cinéma, added, "We are thrilled that Films Grand Huit chose Dandelooo as the International sales agent for the wonderful and meaningful 'My Life in Versailles - The Movie.' We have been fans since the very early stages of development of this most touching story."
