A charitable fund intended to provide financial support to the survivors of the June 21 mass shooting at Fordyce's Mad Butcher grocery store and to the family of the four people killed raised a little over $150,000 that is set to be distributed before Christmas, a spokesperson for the initiative said late last week.
The Fordyce Survivors Fund raised $150,213.86 between July and the end of November, to be distributed to 34 people who applied for a portion of the money raised, said Candace McCullom, chair of the fund's steering committee, on Friday.
"Y'know, holidays are always hard for everyone, so it makes me feel good that we can have that," McCullom said.
Those working on the fund worked to vet the 34 applicants to ensure that they were eligible under four criteria, McCullom said.
