Samsung supplier teases development of $175M Texas plant

Three new state filings totaling $21 million reveal a construction date.

As Samsung makes progress on its massive chip plant in Central Texas, so is one of its major suppliers. In June, MySA reported that Soulbrain TX LLC, a South Korean semiconductor supply company, would be establishing a $175 million plant in Taylor to serve Samsung.

Now, three new Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings are revealing some of the Soulbrain plant's construction details. This comes as Williamson County has been experiencing a tech boom with more companies flocking to the area outside of Austin because of perks like more land availability and faster permitting processes for big developments.

Soulbrain will produce phosphoric acid for the Samsung chips that power the company's phones, tablets, computers and other electronics. Its 60,000-square-foot plant, among other semiconductor Samsung clients, will be located at 201 FM-3349, Taylor, TX 76574 at the RCR Taylor Logistics Park.

Construction will begin on the Soulbrain plant by January 1, 2025, Ben White, president and CEO of the Taylor Economic Development Corporation, told MySA in June.

Soulbrain's new TDLR filings are labeled "T-Project" with the name of where or what each project will be. Construction on all three of these projects are expected to start in March 2025 and end in October 2026.

The first $10 million "production" will be for a new 35,492-square-foot building alongside surrounding landscape. Its scope of work includes the building of sidewalks, exterior equipment yard, separate truck unloading canopy, and separate fire pump house.

The next is for a $10 million "Admin & Warehouse." This 57,007-square-foot building will also be surrounded landscape, sidewalks, etc., according to its scope of work. Lastly, there's a $1 million filling for a 1,982-square-foot "Guardhouse" building with a surrounding sidewalk and fencing.

These will most likely be the first of many filings for Soulbrain as the company seeks to construct the rest of its plant by January 1, 2029, according to White.
