Starting December 2, the ABC and CW affiliates serving Western Tennessee will have a new News Director. And it is a news veteran who was previously Managing Director of "CNTV" in Central Florida.
Earning the role is Mike Darrah, and this puts him in control of the news content that will air on TEGNA-owned WATN "ABC24" and WLMT "The CW30" in Memphis.
"Mike Darrah brings a wealth of knowledge and experience our newsroom and will oversee the daily operations of content and production," said TEGNA/Memphis President/GM Christopher Franklin. "His experience guiding newsrooms through industry shifts will enable us to make timely adjustments in a rapidly evolving media landscape."
Darrah commented, "I'm excited to be joining ABC24 at a time when straightforward, trustworthy journalism has never been more important. Being an advocate for the community is one of the most important things local news can do. ABC24 journalists impressed me with their absolute commitment to community, and I'm thrilled to help move that commitment forward."
Darrah had been with CNTV in the Orlando market since April 2022. Prior to that he was Asst. ND of KTNV-13, the ABC affiliate serving Las Vegas owned by The E.W. Scripps Co. He's also been ND of KITV-4 "Island News" in Honolulu, rising from Asst. ND.
