BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) -- The Haven hosted its first benefit concert Saturday night to help animals in need.
Several local bands and singers performed at "Greg Travis and Friends" at the Fairhope Civic Center, bringing a variety of country tunes for the crowd.
"It's one thing to, you know, be able to donate and give money to any charity, really. But we like to make it so that the community also has a good time," Event Coordinator Dorothy Toth said.
The event's headliner took the first step in putting on the show for potential pets in Baldwin County.
"Greg Travis came to us wanting to put on a benefit concert for the Haven," Adoption Coordinator Michelle Alleman said. "And the Haven, our mission is to provide a safe haven for our homeless animals and so we can find them a forever home."
Right now, there are about 13 dogs and more than 20 cats at The Haven.
Alleman says all proceeds will go toward the shelter's rescue, medical, and adoption programs.
"Doing a benefit like this and doing fundraisers is extremely beneficial because we need to be able to feed the animals," Alleman said. "We need to be able to care for them. We want to give them the highest quality vaccinations."
Dogs from the shelter came out to enjoy the music, and some even got adopted.
