Liverpool could lose one of their most important players as AC Milan 'make contact' ahead of potential move

Liverpool had a big summer overhaul but there are still some big names tipped with an exit after a long stay at the club.

The Reds went big in the transfer window before the season started, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

They were pretty ruthless to say the least, with some big players departing the club, and the same could happen next summer too.

AC Milan are one of the sides taking an interest in a few of their players, but there is one who they are said to have 'made contact' with, and Liverpool fans will not be happy about it.

One of the players who was linked with a move in the summer was Alisson Becker, with the Brazilian a target for many top clubs.

However, Liverpool managed to keep hold of him as he enters the final year of his contract, although they will likely trigger his extra-year option in the near future.

This might not be because he will continue to be their number one, though, but instead to sell him for a little bit of money, with Milan one of the clubs keen according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

He reports that with Mike Maignan set to leave the San Siro in the summer, they have 'set their sights' on Alisson.

They are said to have already made contact with his representatives too, with Liverpool open to allowing him to move on.

Due to his length of contract and being 33 years old, it is unlikely he would cost too much, although because of his service for the club, Liverpool might not mind too much and will not stand in his way.

As this could be his penultimate season, it makes sense for Alisson to just see out his contract and leave on a free in 2027, with there being many reasons for this.

Not only will they not get much money for him, but he has still shown that he is at the top of his game and has plenty yet to give.

Injuries have been his only issue since arriving at Anfield, but he is still worth keeping around due to the amount of games he still plays.

Giorgi Mamardashvili could benefit by working under Alisson for one more season too, with the Georgian then able to take the baton on with ease.
