The driver had failed to stop for a stop sign in front of officers
A driver who reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign in a school zone was busted by police conducting traffic enforcement in the area.
The incident happened about 9:40 a.m. at Daimler Drive and Auburn Road in West Kelowna.
Officers were outside Constable Neil Bruce Middle School when they witnessed a vehicle fail to stop.
According to Cpl. Wilton of the West Kelowna RCMP, the driver was pulled over, and through investigation, officers determined that the individual was impaired by alcohol.
"As a result, the driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and their vehicle was impounded for 30 days," said Cpl. Wilton. "Choosing to drive while impaired is always dangerous, but doing so near a school where children and families are present is especially concerning."
The RCMP reminds the public to plan a safe ride home if consuming alcohol or drugs.
