Inside the 16th century house on the market for £3.75 million

Tormarton Court, located on Church Road, is on the market for £3.75 million.

The house, which has been extensively renovated by the current owners and is a Grade II listed building, includes a focus on family-friendly living both inside and out.

The property has roots dating back to the 16th century, with modifications occurring during the 17th and 18th centuries.

The exterior of the house is mostly based on the remodelling undertaken in 1812 for Lord William Somerset, a son of the Duke of Beaufort and rector at St Mary Magdalen Church, which stands opposite the house.

Ownership of the house transferred from the Badminton estate to the Church Commissioners, who subsequently sold it to Edward Grigg, the first Lord Altrincham, who renamed the house to Tormarton Court.

The current owners purchased the house from the Grigg family in 1996, and they have completed a major restoration of the estate.

The grounds of Tormarton Court are described as a 'private paradise', with long framed views, luscious lawns, and well-maintained foliage.

The property has seven bedrooms, five bathrooms and seven receptions.

The ground and the leisure facilities are around nine acres.

The repurposed walled garden features a heated swimming pool surrounded by yew hedges, allium-stocked beds, and fruit trees.

The parkland-style paddocks include a variety of mature specimen trees and a woodland walk.

The property is situated in South Gloucestershire's rural area, with rolling countryside interspersed with market towns, villages, and hamlets.

Despite its rural location, the house has good communication links to larger towns and cities.

Bath is 11.4 miles away and Bristol is located 14 miles away from the property.

Tormarton also has easy access to private and state schools in Bath, Bristol, and Chippenham, with school bus services available in the village.
