Pittsburgh police are investigating a shooting late Friday in the city's Northview Heights neighborhood.
A spokeswoman for Pittsburgh Public Safety said a man was found in the rear of a residence in the 1300 block of Chicago Street who had been shot once in the abdomen. First responders had been alerted to the incident by a ShotSpotter alert at 10:25 p.m.
"Officers immediately began to render aid to the victim, including applying a chest seal to stem the bleeding," the spokeswoman said in a written release.
The victim was reported to be in critical, but stable, condition when he was transported to a local hospital and immediately taken into surgery.
The Mobile Crime Unit responded to the scene to process evidence, including reviewing available video footage.
