WISN 12 News obtained dramatic new video showing the moment a car tumbled off an overpass onto the freeway below.It happened during a police chase on Aug. 26 on Lincoln Avenue in West Allis. The car landed on I-894 below. Two officers and the driver and passenger of the car went to the hospital that night. Investigators said West Allis police officers tried to pull the driver over for speeding and said he did not stop. Instead, he led officers on a chase that ended with the rollover crash. Investigators said 24-year-old Eduardo Gomez-Peralta was behind the wheel. One officer's dash camera video shows the car crash through the Lincoln Avenue fencing. Another officer's dash camera video shows officers pull up to the crashed car after it landed tires to pavement. Video shows Gomez-Peralta and a passenger get out of the car. One officer deploys his taser on Gomez-Peralta, and both he and the passenger drop to the ground. Officers handcuffed both Gomez-Peralta and the passenger. According to the criminal complaint, Gomez-Peralta told officers he had six beers and smoked marijuana before getting behind the wheel. Officers arrested Gomez-Peralta and cited the passenger for having THC.Prosecutors charged Gomez-Peralta with fleeing/eluding an officer, resulting in great bodily harm, and second-degree recklessly endangering safety, which are both felonies. He was also charged with operating while intoxicated, causing injury, which is a misdemeanor. Court records show Gomez-Peralta previously plead guilty in a police chase involving Greenfield officers back in 2020. He received probation time for that. Gomez-Peralta is due back in court Wednesday for charges relating to the West Allis chase and crash. He has yet to be appointed an attorney.
