Another Hindu man was attacked in Bangladesh after Deepu Chandra Das was killed over alleged blasphemy a few days ago in the country.
According to local authorities, a rickshaw puller was brutally assaulted by a mob in the Jhenaidah district of the Khulna Division on Friday.
The mob rounded him up after noticing a red thread on his right wrist and began calling him a "RAW agent." The rickshaw puller was identified as Gobinda Biswas.
A crowd present at the scene started shouting slogans against him and linked him to India's intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (Research and Analysis Wing). They then began thrashing him and left him injured.
The incident took place near the gate of the Jhenaidah district municipality. Later, Biswas was handed over to the police. He sustained injuries to his throat and chest.
Videos of the incident are circulating on the internet, in which Biswas can be seen pleading before the police who had taken him into custody.
In another video, an unidentified voice claims that there were several WhatsApp transactions on Biswas's mobile phone and that these were linked to the Reserve Bank of India. He had also reportedly received a phone call from a person he claimed was known to him as Akash.
The officer-in-charge of the Jhenaidah police station confirmed that Biswas was detained after an initial probe revealed that he had lived in India for several years. Police officials said they were probing his possible links with Indian agencies.
