OKLAHOMA COUNTY, Okla. (KOKH) -- There are public calls for Oklahoma County Commissioner Myles Davidson to resign amid allegations of sexual assault.
An amended protective order was filed against Davidson in Cleveland County District Court this week, accusing him of sexual assault and stalking.
The protective order was filed by a woman who says Davidson harassed her for a sexual relationship while working together, dating back to November of 2023.
The Board of Oklahoma County Commissioners met on Wednesday. On the agenda, Commissioner Brian Maughan was going to be appointed as Chair, which Davidson currently occupies, and Commissioner Jason Lowe was going to be appointed to the District 5 Board of Circuit Engineering in Davidson's place.
However, the District Attorney said a vote had to take place for these things to happen, so the wording was stricken during the meeting.
On Thursday, during a special meeting the Commission will vote on those two things and then Davidson would be reinstated to those positions if he is cleared of the allegations.
During the meeting on Wednesday, public comment was filled with people calling for him to resign.
"You have proven yourself to be a crook. You have proven yourself to be deceptive. And now it looks like you're about to prove yourself to be an abuser. You need to resign and resign now, Myles Davidson," Mark Faulk said.
"He should be resigned and gone forever," Del City Mayor Floyd Eason said.
"I think at some point in time all of us have to look at ourselves and our careers and think am I doing more harm than good," Gina Standridge said.
Davidson said little about the allegations during the meeting.
"I appreciate everybody that's reached out and sent prayers and everything," he said.
After the meeting Davidson told reporters he had "no comment" on the allegations but did say he was not resigning as a commissioner.
Lowe said at this point he doesn't believe Davidson should resign as a commissioner entirely and deserves his day in court.
"We don't know what the facts are, all the facts. So we have to wait to hear all of the facts and make a determination on whether he needs to, there needs to be more action taken," Lowe said.
Maughan echoed the same sentiment as Davidson prepares to step aside as Chair of the Commission for now.
"I appreciate that he put the interest of the county first while he goes through his due day in court," Maughan said.
A court hearing is set for September 15.
