Purpose-built app is designed for short-term parking and digital permits
Skidata has acquired ePark, a Swedish provider of app-based smart parking services.
It offers a purpose-built platform for digital short-term parking, digital permits and value-added services, Skidata said in a statement.
This a modular and scalable system used by more than 200 municipalities and private operators, processing 6.7 million transactions per year by more than two million users.
The acquisition means Skidata has expanded its offering to cities and operators - but says it remains committed to open integrations, including third-party apps and systems.
"With Skidata Connect, we enable simple, secure and sustainable integration that adds value without limiting flexibility," said Willem-Jan Balk, Skidata's senior vice president for marketing and sales.
Meanwhile, ePark will continue to operate as a separate business unit within Skidata: the brand, platform and leadership remain unchanged.
Skidata is an Austrian company that provides access technology to sectors including airports, urban areas, shopping malls, office buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, mountain destinations, hotels and stadiums and arenas.
The firm said that integrating ePark's offering with its own core portfolio creates a solution that spans both on-street and off-street parking environments, allowing cities and operators to manage access, payment and permits through a unified system.
