NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) - An armed carjacking suspect was stopped and arrested by New Haven police on Saturday night.
They identified him as 41-year-old Curtis Gibbs of New Haven.
According to police, they were sent to the area of Orchard and Henry streets in the Elm City around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a robbery and carjacking.
The victim called and reported being parked in that area when three men approached the vehicle. The report said all three had guns that were pointed at the victim. The suspects told the victim to get out.
The three men got in and fled on Orchard Street toward Dixwell Avenue, police said.
The vehicle was found a short time later in the Fair Haven section of the city.
The driver tried to flee, but officers successfully deployed stop sticks. After a pursuit, the vehicle was stopped in the area of Sherman Avenue and Elizabeth Street.
The driver, Gibbs, was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, interfering with an officer, failure to obey an officer signal, engaging police in pursuit, and reckless driving. There were no injuries during the incident.
