Swindon has been named as hotspot for carbon monoxide incidents.
The news comes as people have been urged to check their carbon monoxide alarms during carbon monoxide awareness week (November 17 to 23).
Wales & West Utilities is encouraging residents to make sure their alarms are working properly in order to protect their families from the 'silent killer'.
The company says that figures from the Carbon Monoxide Research and Analytics (CORA) platform show worrying hotspots for CO incidents in Swindon among other areas in the South West.
Therefore, they are emphasising the importance of working alarms, especially as the colder months begin.
Emma Jackson-Phillips tragically lost her father to CO poisoning.
She said: "Had an audible CO alarm been present in his room, it would have alerted him to act - and he'd still be with us today.
"A CO alarm costs around £15 - a small price to pay to save a life."
Rob Long, chief operating officer at Wales & West Utilities, said: "We're urging every household to press the test button today on their CO alarm, and if you don't have one, buy one immediately - it could save your life."
Carbon monoxide kills approximately 40 people every year in England and Wales and hospitalises many more.
Symptoms of poisoning are similar to flu, including headaches, tiredness, and nausea.
