Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority Lowers Capital Requirements for Major Banks

The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (FI) has reduced its core Tier 1 capital ratio requirements (as a percentage of risk-weighted exposure amount, REA) for the country's three major banks--SEB, Swedbank, and Handelsbanken--as of the end of the third quarter.

For SEB, the requirement has been lowered to 14.66 percent, compared to 14.74 percent in the previous quarter.

Swedbank's new requirement is set at 14.81 percent (down from 15.23 percent in the previous quarter), while Handelsbanken's requirement now stands at 14.72 percent, compared to 14.86 percent in the second quarter.
