PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A 76-year-old Bend woman, missing for four days in remote Lane County, was found alive on Saturday near Lookout Point Lake.
Cheryl Leigh Guajardo was last believed to be driving in the Lowell area on December 3. She was reported missing the following day and a coordinated search involving 11 local, state and federal agencies plus volunteers began looking for her, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.
Poor cell service hampered the search, officials said. A Silver Alert was issued in case she had left the area.
The breakthrough came around 11 a.m. December 7 when Guajardo's car was spotted "on an overgrown spur road north of Lookout Point Lake." Not long after, the Bend woman was found alive and responsive. She was taken by ambulance to an area hospital to be examined and treated.
Authorities thanked the "many residents" and "Guajardo's friends and family" who helped with the search.
