A STOURPORT based oil and waste recycling firm has announced major investment and a new shareholder.
Headquartered in Stourport, Slicker Recycling has confirmed Dr Andreas Weinberger has become a significant shareholder in Greenbottle Limited, its parent company, through his investment company.
Dr Weinberger is a major figure in the circular economy and previously served as CEO and chairman of AVISTA Oil AG in Germany.
Mark Olpin, executive chairman at Slicker Recycling, said: "Andreas brings immense oil waste sector experience not just to Slicker Recycling, but to the group as a whole.
"We are thrilled to welcome him as a shareholder, but also as someone who's expertise, knowledge and strategic guidance will be invaluable in supporting the next stage of our growth plans.
"Andreas has a deep understanding of the sector, our business and where we see ourselves in the market.
"He will play an integral role in our success in the months and years ahead."
Dr Weinberger will also join Slicker Recycling's executive board.
Over the coming months, he will be providing new capital to support Slicker Recycling's continued growth.
Dr Weinberger said: "Slicker Recycling has leading credentials in the used oil and wider waste management industry.
"Aside from my new shareholding in the business, I am delighted to be working closely with the executive team and look forward to playing my part in the company's growth and development."
The company employs over 200 people across its UK depots.
In 2020, it opened a £70 million base oil re-refinery in Denmark through a joint venture with German partner, Avista Oil AG, and in 2024, the company was awarded the King's Award for Enterprise, in recognition of its growth in the UK and within mainland Europe.
Slicker Recycling handles over 75 million litres of used lubricating oil every year.
