Caldas will face Sporting Braga at the Campo da Mata on Tuesday in the fifth round of the 2025-26 Taca de Portugal campaign. The home side, who ply their trade in the third tier of Portuguese football, have struggled in their recent league outings but will look to put those issues aside as they welcome one of the country's top clubs in the domestic cup this week.
After dispatching much weaker opposition in the first three rounds of the cup, Caldas were handed a tough draw in round four as they travelled to central Portugal to face Tondela. However, they exceeded expectations by holding firm in regulation time before taking the tie to penalties, where they were flawless from the spot.
Sporting Braga, meanwhile, began their cup campaign in the third round with a 1-0 win over Bragança, as captain Ricardo Horta came off the bench to score a late winner. They then locked horns with Nacional in the following round and secured a 4-2 victory, with Horta once again leading the way by registering two goals and an assist.
The visitors, who had been in exciting form over the past couple of weeks, suffered a setback on Friday with a 1-0 league defeat to Estoril Praia. They will view this week's cup clash as an ideal opportunity to reset against significantly weaker opposition.
Pelicanos have lost their last four games in succession and have managed just one win in their last seven. Their poor form, coupled with the gulf in class between the sides, could make victory on Tuesday a tall order for the third-tier outfit.
The Archbishops, meanwhile, saw their most recent result bring an end to a seven-game unbeaten run in which they recorded six wins. Stung by that setback, the visitors should be highly motivated to secure a commanding victory on Tuesday.
