MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital has again been named, for 2026, a high-performing hospital on the U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list.
Also named to the 2025 list, the high-performing rating indicates exemplary performance on a range of objective quality measures, such as rates of unexpected complications and C-sections.
U.S. News began in 2021 its evaluation of hospitals that provide labor and delivery services, based on data reported by hospitals. For the 2026 evaluation, a record 901 U.S. hospitals submitted maternity data.
In all, 495 hospitals across the country were recognized for their excellence. The ratings are made to assist expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care providers, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care for uncomplicated births.
Fifteen Ohio hospitals were listed, including three in the Cleveland area. In addition to Hillcrest Hospital, 6780 Mayfield Road in Mayfield Heights, other listed Cleveland hospitals are Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, and MetroHealth Medical Center.

"Hillcrest Hospital brings together experienced teams, coordinated care, and resources that help create a safe and reassuring birthing experience," said Dr. Brian J. Harte, who is president of the East Submarket of Cleveland Clinic's Northeast Ohio Market. "We are honored that U.S. News & World Report has recognized the hospital for maternity care.
"This achievement reflects the commitment of our caregivers who support families through pregnancy, childbirth and the first days of a newborn's life."
Cleveland Clinic points to a program, CenteringPregnancy, that it says has had an impact on many families at Hillcrest Hospital.
CenteringPregnancy is a national prenatal program that combines brief, private meetings with a healthcare provider and a facilitated group gathering of 8-10 women and their partners. Group members share information on topics of common interest, including everything from backaches to breastfeeding to post-natal birth control options, and more.
The program's goals are to help promote overall health and well-being, provide important education about the pregnancy process, and create a unique experience for patients during their pregnancy.
Data has shown that the CenteringPregnancy program has decreased the rate of preterm and low-weight babies, increased breastfeeding rates, and led to better pregnancy spacing.
CenteringPregnancy was introduced at Cleveland Clinic in 2016 and is available to all pregnant women who receive prenatal care at Cleveland Clinic. A list of locations can be found here.
A Cleveland Clinic spokesperson stated that, while CenteringPregnancy is not specifically part of the U.S. News methodology, it is one of the ways Hillcrest Hospital "supports safe, healthy pregnancies that result in informed, confident parents, which can contribute to the strong outcomes reflected in the data U.S. News evaluates."
