Supporters night for North Yorkshire motorcyclist's 2026 Dakar Rally bid

Supporters night for North Yorkshire motorcyclist's 2026 Dakar Rally bid

The 28-year-old electrical engineer from Northallerton is aiming to improve on his 84th place finish whereby he was top British competitor on the two-week marathon earlier this year ahead of the 2026 event which starts in January in Saudi Arabia and covers around 8,000km.

As part of the fund-raising campaign to raise the £50,000 budget needed to compete, Robbie has once again organised a Supporters Night which will see celebrity guests in attendance for a chat show and a host of unique lots to be raffled and auctioned off in the Yorkshire Suite at the Golden Lion Hotel in Northallerton on Friday 28th November.

Joining Robbie on stage will be British Superbike Championship favourite Storm 'Lord' Stacey and Porsche Carrera Cup runner-up Max Coates, with auction lots including a very rare, signed Barry Sheene print, VIP British Superbike and British Touring Car hospitality packages, Middlesbrough FC hospitality, BSB champion Kyle Ryde's signed cap, and dozens of other prizes up for grabs.

Doors open at 7.00pm with the show getting underway at 7.30pm, admission is free and there are bar facilities available.

As part of his preparation, Robbie is contesting the Qatar International Baja this weekend which comprises a route of around 800km whilst his bid to become the first rider to complete the Dakar Rally and the famous Scott Trial in the same year ended in disappointment last month.

Wallace picked up a bug the day before the tortuous event and despite his best efforts, in only his second trial, he made it to the Surrender section about a third of the way round the Swaledale course before being timed out.

Robbie said: "Dakar 2026 is edging closer and many cogs and in motion with preparation well underway. I had my fix of big event excitement with an entry on the Scott Trial.

"It was a very tricky and challenging day which ended up getting the better of me and unable to reach the finish. But we will be back next year for another attempt.

"This weekend, I'll be in the sand dunes of Qatar where I will be able to get my very limited but essential training in before Dakar 2026 and I'm going there with a game plan in mind to achieve a podium result."

He added: "I will also be able to hone my navigation skills once more at what is a notoriously difficult event in terms of navigation and with a strong line up of Dakar riders entered, I know it won't be easy.

"I'm also hugely looking forward to my Mission Dakar Supporters evening on November 28th in Northallerton. It should be a fantastic night with a couple of great guests and some wonderful 'money can't buy' auction and raffle prizes so hopefully we'll get a good turn out once again."
