As November is men's mental health awareness month, the film offers a reminder of how everyday spaces can serve as a "modern-day community centre."
George Carroll, aged 28, who co-founded 'The Neighborhood' barbershop, in Wellingborough Road, opened his doors to students, creatives and production team, turning his shop into a set.
"I've been barbering a while, and you get everyone in this chair who are all different ages, different backgrounds, but often with things in common," George said.
Made in support of Andy's Man Club and launched as part of Movember's men's mental health campaign, the film focuses on the split second between what men feel and what they show.
"You see lads come in carrying something heavy and still crack a joke. We wanted to remind blokes they don't have to mask it." George added.
Around three-quarters of suicides in England and Wales are men, with Northamptonshire recording around 65 suicides a year, according to West Northamptonshire Council. Men aged 40 to 60 remain at the highest risk.
For George, the project reflects what his shop has become. He said: "People tell their stories, they vent, they unload, and we do the same. Some lads don't get out much socially, so coming into the shop is a breath of fresh air. It's an escape from the real world."
"We're just lads as well, and sometimes that's all people need to see," he told the Chronicle & Echo.
Azim aka 'Renecide' says the short was born from his own teenage anxiety in the barbershop. Turning that feeling into something stripped-back and real, he says this is, "a love letter to the quiet strength of ordinary men"
"If even one person opens up because of this," Azim added "then it's done its job."
Andy's Man Club is a UK men's suicide-prevention charity offering free peer-to-peer groups every Monday at 7pm, including Northampton at the Holiday Inn in Bedford Road.
