A complaint under the Worcester City Council Members' Code of Conduct has been lodged against Cllr Ed Kimberley over the content of some of his online posts.
However, the Labour city councillor, elected last May, claims he is the one under attack because of his 'campaign against hate'.
A letter, shared on social media, including on the Patriots of Worcester page, shows that a complaint about Cllr Kimberley, a Labour councillor for Warndon and Elbury Park, was lodged with Worcester City Council on November 17.
In one post, the day the complaint was made, Cllr Kimberley criticised the group to his 4,000 plus Facebook followers.
We cannot confirm that this video is what prompted the complaint. The identity of the person who made it was obscured on social media.
In the video, he claims Patriots of Worcester has used AI to try to find something controversial about Mr Kimberley.
"It's very slim pickings but what they've managed to drum up is the idea that I voted against the grooming gangs inquiry.
"Only one small problem with this of course, is that I'm not an MP. I'm a councillor.
"Flattered by the mistake as I might be, it nonetheless shows how daft they are but then again, these are the same exact people who saw music notes on the side of an advert and thought that it was Islamic writing and nearly sounded the alarm only to discover later that it was advertising a concert at Worcester Cathedral.
"So hey, I guess this goes to show maybe this is why they're using AI to do their thinking for them because they don't know how to do it for themselves. Now we all know."
A letter from monitoring officer Sian Stroud to the person who complained reads: "You have complained about the content of some of Cllr Ed Kimberley's online material."
The letter explains that, in assessing the complaint, the monitoring officer is required to follow the Worcester Members Code of Conduct and the Procedures for the Assessment of Complaints.
"You will note that the first step is for the Monitoring Officer to undertake an Initial Assessment with the Designated Independent Person for Standards matters.
"Once this is complete, I will be back in touch. If I need any further information in the meantime I will contact you," she wrote.
Cllr Kimberley said: "The people of our city deserve to live in safety and in peace, without fear of prejudice or harassment. My campaign against hate has made me a target for vicious comments, but I am grateful to my colleagues, friends and supporters for standing by me against it.
"Our community is a kind, tolerant and welcoming place. It is only a desperate few who would try to turn us against one another. But kindness will prevail in the end."
A spokesperson for Worcester City Council said: "We don't comment on whether complaints have been made against councillors."
