The sight of the market hall at the top of the road makes this town centre location immediately identifiable.
Taken in 1948, you are looking down a rather wet Market Street. It was certainly a busy area with cars parked on the side of the road.

On the left, the two cars decorated with ribbons were perhaps wedding cars with the reception being held in the café across the road.
It looks as though Market Street was good for shopping with a wide variety of shops and businesses. Certainly there were plenty of folk out and about.
Do you remember any of the shops on Market Street which are no longer there?
