It's cheesy, but it's become a popular bit on social media for former NFL coach Jon Gruden.
Oregon State is the latest to join the fun.
In recent weeks, college football and basketball programs send Gruden boxes of school swag. Gruden, a pitchman for Barstool Sports, opens the box and pulls out various items of clothing and school memorabilia. Gruden, unboxing the items on video, often acts like a child opening Christmas presents.
Friday, a large box from Oregon State football arrived. Gruden walks into a room with Barstool teammate "Frank The Tank," carrying a box of merchandise from Oregon State, straining from the weight of the package.
"Check out the biggest box we've ever got, from Oregon State," Gruden said.
Gruden sets the box down and asks Frank who's his favorite Beaver of all time. Frank says Terry Baker. Gruden mentions Mike Riley and Dennis Erickson, receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chad Johnson and Brandin Cooks.
The box is opened, and Gruden pulls out a pair of white and orange OSU Nike shoes.
"Look at these shoes. I'm wearing these. Man, these are freaking awesome," Gruden said.
Gruden sets the shoes down and dig in for the next item.
"You know the head football coach at Oregon State is a defensive guy? Look at this," said Gruden, holding up a golf driver cover. "Trent Bray. He just sent me a Beaver head cover for my driver. What do you think of that?"
Next is an Oregon State football helmet with the scripted "Beavers" on the sides.
"This is probably one of the coolest helmets in the country. Can't believe we got this. Look at this, man. Corvallis, Oregon, home of the Beavers, baby!" Gruden said.
There's a large orange and black duffel that Gruden unzips to find several shirts and an Oregon State letterman's jacket. Gruden slips it the orange jacket with black sleeves.
"This is going to make (Dave) Portnoy jealous," said Gruden, referring to Barstool's president. "Whew! Does this look good, or what?"
Later, Gruden finds some OSU hats and puts on a bucket hat, then a large Beaver logo sticker.
"I am a big fan, man," Gruden said.
Toward the bottom of the box Gruden finds a dozen golf balls.
"I'm afraid to open these balls. There might be a Beaver on the ball," Gruden said.
He opens a sleeve of balls. There is a Beaver logo on the ball.
"Look at that Frank," Gruden said, showing the Beaver logo on the ball. "This is like, Christmas. I can't even thank you enough, coach."
The last item Gruden finds is a handwritten letter from Bray and the Oregon State "equipment dudes."
Gruden reads the letter.
"Thanks for all you equipment dudes out there. I freaking love all of you," Gruden said.
