Prof Gupta said AIIMS Jammu has emerged as a symbol of inclusive and visionary healthcare under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the Institute is not merely a hospital but a comprehensive ecosystem integrating patient care, medical education, research and innovation.

He said despite challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, AIIMS Jammu completed 43 major buildings in a record three and a half years, a feat that earned national recognition with CPWD receiving the Best Project Award at the 170th CPWD Annual Day.

Highlighting clinical achievements, Prof Gupta informed that AIIMS Jammu has treated over 3.68 lakh OPD patients, admitted 8,783 inpatients, handled 22,810 emergency cases and performed 3,283 surgeries across eight modular operation theatres.

The Institute has also provided ICU care to 1,297 patients and conducted 1,624 dialysis sessions. Advanced diagnostic services, including X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans and MRIs, have significantly strengthened healthcare access for the people of J&K.

He said super specialty services are now operational in major disciplines such as Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Urology, CTVS, Gastroenterology, Pulmonary Medicine, Neonatology and Oncology, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region for advanced treatment. AIIMS Jammu also houses the country's only Centre for Advanced Genomics and Precision Medicine among all AIIMS, while its oncology unit offers chemotherapy, radiation therapy and immunotherapy.

On the academic front, Prof Gupta said AIIMS Jammu has expanded from a single MBBS batch to multiple batches and now offers MBBS, BSc Nursing, MD/MS, MDS and MCh programmes. With over 140 ongoing research projects and collaborations with premier institutions, the Institute is steadily emerging as a research-driven centre.

He noted that AIIMS Jammu secured the 7th position in Outlook Magazine's 2025 ranking of Government Medical Universities, second only to AIIMS Delhi.
