Mosharraf Zaidi appointed as PM Sharif's spokesperson for foreign media

Columnist and policy expert Mosharraf Zaidi has been appointed as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's spokesperson for foreign media.

Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar shared the official notification of Zaidi's appointment on X (formerly Twitter). The notification stated that this appointment "cancels the Prime Minister's earlier orders of June 4 under the same reference number, as well as the Cabinet Division's circular No. 3-2/2024-Min-I, dated June 10."

According to the notification, "Mosharraf Ali Zaidi is hereby appointed as the Prime Minister's Spokesperson for Foreign Media with immediate effect and until further orders." The Information Ministry and Cabinet Division have been directed to take necessary follow-up action.

In his message, Attaullah Tarar wrote: "Welcome aboard! You are a great addition to our team. Working with you over the past few months has been a wonderful experience, and I look forward to continuing this teamwork in the same spirit."

Mosharraf Zaidi, who also serves as the Prime Minister's Coordinator for Performance and Innovation, holds a BSc (Honours) in Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and a Master of Public Administration in Policy Analysis and Nonprofit Management from Baruch College, New York.

From 2011 to 2013, Zaidi worked as a Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from 2013 to 2018, he served as Campaign Director and CEO of Alif Ailaan.

In 2018, he founded the Islamabad-based policy think tank Tabadlab, where he remained CEO until June 2025 and later continued as a Senior Fellow until August.
