On Sunday, October 12, St Stythians Male Voice Choir performed at the newly refurbished Trewoon Village Hall.
As always, the choir was led by MD Ken Downing with accompanist Katy Matthews.
The special guest was Andy Christophers, who entertained with songs from his past shows.
His pieces included Some Enchanted Evening (South Pacific), which was hopefully a portent of things to come.
He also reprised his role as the Pirate King (Pirates of Penzance), keeping things a little more local.
Andy also 'doubled' as unofficial compère at no extra cost, cheap at half the price.
The choir displayed their versatility with a range of pieces from 'the shows' but also 'classics' and songs with a nautical flavour.
Bound for the Rio Grande and Blow, Blow the Wind, empathetically arranged by the extremely talented Katy Matthews.
My Favourite Things (Sound of Music - Cornish version) contained additional lyrics by the choir's wordsmith, Bob Willmott, cream on top, please.
The inclusion of Get Me to the Church on Time was presumably for a wedding, but you never know at our age.
The choir premiered their rendition of Don't Let Go, a very emotive piece, after the lilting I Watch the Sunrise.
A well-balanced programme with something for all tastes.
As has become a 'tradition', the choir closed the concert with Cornwall My Home, a fitting end to a most enjoyable evening.
