Chris Evans's Captain America Returns With A Child In First Avengers: Doomsday Trailer

Chris Evans's Captain America Returns With A Child In First Avengers: Doomsday Trailer

One of the original Earth's Mightiest Heroes is returning for Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday, as a Marvel Cinematic Universe alum making his comeback in 2026. Despite denying that he is coming back to the MCU timeline, the end of The Multiverse Saga will indeed see one of the original Avengers back for the fifth team-up film.

Avengers: Doomsday teasers are being shown in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash for the next four weeks. The first one has confirmed that Chris Evans' Steve Rogers is officially coming back to the MCU franchise, as he was the focus of the debut trailer.

The footage sees Evans' MCU hero on a motorcycle before arriving at his house with Peggy Carter, as seen in Avengers: Endgame back in 2019. As he places his helmet on the bike and walks towards the house. The footage then cuts to Steve holding his Captain America costume from Avengers: Endgame, making it seem he is considering suiting up once more before putting it in a box.

However, the big surprise is that Steve and Hayley Atwell's Peggy ended up having a baby, with the former Captain America holding his son and smiling at him. When the Avengers: Doomday footage ends, it goes to a black screen with the following words: "Steve Rogers Will Return In Avengers: Doomsday," followed by a countdown to the Phase 6 installment's 2026 release date.

When Evans spoke to ScreenRant's Liam Crowley earlier this year, he flat out denied his involvement, saying, "It's sad to not be back with the band, but I'm sure they're doing something incredible." At the time, he stressed, "And I'm sure it's going to be that much harder when it comes out and you feel like you weren't invited to the party."

Evans' Avengers: Doomsday return was first revealed on December 10, 2024, over a year ago, when it was reported that he was set to return for the highly anticipated installment. The MCU veteran was said to be "involved in some capacity," while the "extent and exact nature of his role is unknown."

As there are still three more Avengers: Doomsday trailers being screened in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash over the coming weeks, there will be more reveals to come out of the upcoming MCU movie. Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18, 2026.
