PM Dhan Dhaanya: A major gift from the central government for farmers , All eyes on October 11 - Times Bull

PM Dhan Dhaanya: To make the country self-reliant in the pulses sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two important schemes on October 11, the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jayaprakash, at the Pusa Institute in Delhi. Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan gave this information.

He said that India can no longer depend on anyone for food grains, hence it is necessary to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses. Along with this, PM Modi will also launch the Deep Sea Fishing Policy and will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 56 projects worth Rs 3,000 crore related to animal husbandry, fisheries and food processing.

The Union Agriculture Minister announced that the Rs 24,000 crore PM Dhan Dhanya Scheme will be launched on October 11th. The scheme aims to increase the area under pulse cultivation from 27.5 million hectares to 31 million hectares by 2030-31. Both schemes were announced in the last budget. The Union Agriculture Minister further stated that under the proposed scheme, the central government will procure pulses produced in the country.

To increase agricultural productivity and promote crop diversification in the country, the government is implementing the PM Dhan Dhanya Scheme. The Finance Minister announced the scheme for the agriculture sector in this year's budget. In July of this year, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, approved the scheme for six years. It will now be implemented on Saturday, October 11th. This scheme will be implemented in 100 districts in the current fiscal year.

Modeled after NITI Aayog 's Aspirational Districts initiative, the PM Dhan Dhanya Scheme is the first of its kind to be implemented in the agricultural sector. It is believed to be a game-changer for farmers. This scheme is based on the idea that a focused and coordinated effort, rather than scattered initiatives, can provide lasting solutions to farmers' problems.

This is not a new scheme, but a "mega-plan" that aims to bring together existing schemes and multiply their potential. The scheme has an annual budget of Rs 24,000 crore and will run for the next six years. Under this scheme, 36 central schemes from 11 different ministries will be integrated. Additionally, state schemes and local private sector participation will be integrated into this initiative. This simply means that farmers will no longer have to visit multiple offices to access benefits from different schemes. The benefits of all schemes will be delivered to farmers in a single, coordinated manner. It is estimated that this will directly benefit 17 million farmers.
