Impact Day: Coastal hazards continue on Saturday for Southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry

Saturday is a WJCL 22 Impact Day as rain chances and coastal hazards return once again. A developing area of low pressure near the east coast of Florida and a developing stationary front off the east coast of Southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry continue to keep rain chances and cloud cover around. The current weather setup is also pushing in breezy northeasterly winds which is causing rough conditions along the beaches.Rain chances will be around 30% through the weekend, with scattered showers possible throughout different portions of Saturday and Saturday night. There is no elevated chance of flooding or severe weather and the main impacts for inland spots will just be some rain and breezy conditions. Forecast rainfall totals are generally <0.5" for most spots on Saturday. In addition to rain, there is also a high rip current risk and high surf advisory in place through Saturday for all Southeast Georgia and Lowcountry beaches. With that in mind, going in the water is absolutely not advised this weekend. High tide is forecast to peak around 9.7' tomorrow which could lead to some minor flooding along the coast, but nothing as close as what we saw on Friday.Wind gusts along the coasts will be the highest, peaking between 25-40 mph on Saturday.Tracking The TropicsAs for the tropics, there are currently two tropical systems in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Jerry and Post-Tropical Storm Karen, both of which will have no impacts on the U.S. as they remain well out in the open Atlantic. Otherwise there is no other tropical development expected in the next seven days.
