As the New England Revolution get back to full health for the first time essentially all season, the club cut ties with two members of its forward group.
Maxi Urruti, and Luis Diaz, two offseason additions for the team, were waived on Thursday after combining for 39 appearances this season. Both Urruti, 34, and Diaz, 26, had played under Revs coach Caleb Porter at his previous positions in Portland and Columbus.
While each got an opportunity to start during the season, neither took hold of consistent minutes in the starting XI, and combined for less than 1,000 minutes in MLS action this year.
When they did take the field, the duo combined for two goals and one assist total.
The reintroduction of Ignatius Ganago last week allows head coach Caleb Porter to now use Ganago or one of Luca Langoni and Tomas Chancalay up front off the bench.
Releasing two players however, does leave them one short in that forward room for the time being.
According to recent reports though, further reinforcements may be on the way. Last week, Tom Bogert reported that the Revs were in talks with Macccabi Tel Aviv to sign Israeli forward Dor Turgeman.
Although nothing is official yet, the team did acquire an additional international roster spot from Austin FC last Thursday for $225,000 in General Allocation Money.
