A trio of South Okanagan communities set new daily heat records on Wednesday.
Summerland, Penticton and Osoyoos reached all-time highs in temperature for the day of Dec. 17, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
It was 9.7 C in Summerland on Wednesday as the community beat its old record of 8.9 C set in 1917.
Penticton, meanwhile, experienced a daily high of 10.3 C, surpassing its old daily record of 9.4 C set exactly 100 years ago.
It was the warmest region-wide in Osoyoos, where the community reached 11.3 C. That was good enough to shatter its previous record of 9.7 C set in 1997.
Salmon Arm, Trail and Castlegar were the other three B.C. communities to set new daily heat records for Dec. 17.
ECCC is predicting a high of 7 C across the South Okanagan on Thursday, Dec. 18.
Rain is in the forecast for Penticton, Summerland and Osoyoos.
It is expected to cool down and dip closer to 0 C on Friday and into the weekend, with ECCC calling for a chance of flurries from Dec. 20 to 24.
