The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has taken issue with Senator Uche Ekwunife, deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing her of making "malicious and unfounded" claims against the Soludo family.
In a statement on Saturday, Dr. Soludo dismissed the allegations as fabrications and warned that she would initiate legal proceedings if the former lawmaker failed to withdraw the remarks and issue an apology within 72 hours. She also challenged Ekwunife to a public oath and DNA tests to dispel any lingering doubts raised during the campaign.
The dispute stems from a viral video circulating since Tuesday in which Senator Ekwunife alleged that Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife were linked to the administration of the late Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju between 1999 and 2003. The APC candidate's remarks followed questions raised about her own academic qualifications.

Responding, Dr. Soludo rejected the claims outright and outlined what she described as verifiable facts: that she had never worked under any government administration, never met the late Mbadinuju, and had only ever known her husband, Chukwuma Soludo.
She further challenged Ekwunife to swear an oath of fidelity in a Catholic cathedral and proposed DNA tests for both families to be conducted in London, with all expenses borne by her.
Meanwhile, Senator Ekwunife, in a separate statement, downplayed the confrontation, describing her earlier comments as "friendly advice." She maintained that Mrs. Soludo owed no explanation to her, insisting that any clarifications should be directed to the governor. Ekwunife added that her focus remained on contributing positively to Anambra State and contesting what she described as "misrule."
