ST. LOUIS - IKEA furniture is known for its design, affordability and style. But for a local organization, the company will serve an even greater purpose.
St. Louis-based Healing Action Network (HAN) recently received a huge furniture donation from IKEA. HAN helps survivors of trafficking and exploitation.
The brand-new furniture includes desks, couches, tables and organizational items.
"Even just having safe, secure, comfortable furniture can help people feel warm. It can help people feel comfortable to let themselves be human in the space after dealing with everything they have outside our doors," said Healing Action Network Trauma Therapist Meghan York.
The IKEA Foundation selected HAN for its mission, IKEA Marketing Specialist Kyra McArthur said. McArthur said the donation is one of the largest from the foundation.
"Furniture, organizational stuff, storage design aspects, lighting, you name it," McArthur said.
The Healing Action Network is marking its tenth anniversary.
The organization provides a variety of services, including trauma recovery and housing support. For more information on the nonprofit, visit https://healingaction.org/.
